EuCornea was set-up in 2009 as a platform for an emerging group of eye surgeons specialising in the many new techniques and procedures being developed for corneal transplantation. The Society is a non-profit, scientific organisation active in Europe and whose purpose is in particular:
- To promote personal relationship and exchange of scientific knowledge and practical skills among corneal specialists in Europe
- To encourage, support and register scientific research in the field of cornea and ocular surface disease in Europe
- To promote the dissemination of the highest level of knowledge in the field of ophthalmology and specifically in cornea and ocular surface disease among ophthalmologist and the public
- To promote an efficient collaboration with similar organizations worldwide which contribute to progress in the field of cornea and ocular surface disease
EuCornea shares offices with the ESCRS in Dublin.
